Building Leaders from Within: Highlights from the Character Development Workshop at ANGKASA

EliteSkill Training recently conducted the impactful “Character Development Leadership Workshop”, a 3-day leadership development program designed to strengthen the core skills modern leaders need: self-awareness, empathy, time mastery, and adaptive communication.

Held from 22 to 24 July 2025 at ANGKASA Resources & Consultancy Sdn Bhd, the program brought together 20 committed staff members of ANGKASA. It was led by EliteSkill’s Managing Director Aida Mohd and corporate trainer Asnawi Yusoff, both known for their real-world experience in leadership development and team dynamics.

Module Highlights: What Participants Experienced

 

Self-Reflection on Self-Development

Participants explored current workplace challenges through personal SWOT analyses and guided reflection on leadership goals. As a result, this helped them identify growth areas, acknowledge their strengths, and build emotional resilience to overcome daily work struggles.

Communication Styles in the Workplace

Understanding the social styles of communication, participants learned how to adapt based on individual personalities and team dynamics; boosting collaboration, respect, and clarity.

 Empathy & Active Listening

With tools like empathy mapping and open-ended questioning, participants practiced active listening and conflict resolution by pairing up and sharing life stories. This enhanced both compassion and connection.

 Time Management & Discipline

Through concepts like Parkinson’s Law, Carlson’s Law, and Illich’s Law, participants reflected on their productivity patterns. A fun and insightful Jenga time challenge tested their ability to strategize and deliver leadership results under pressure.

Situational Leadership

Introducing Ken Blanchard’s Situational Leadership Model, this session taught participants how to adjust their leadership style whether directing, coaching, supporting, or delegating based on team readiness and competence.

Team Trust & Collaboration

Practical leadership team-building activities emphasized the role of psychological safety, shared goals, and collaborative decision-making. Participants experienced how trust accelerates performance.

Aligning Self and Organizational Direction

This powerful session helped participants connect their personal purpose to the organization’s direction. It included the mission, vision, and core values. Participants reflected on how their day-to-day actions either contribute to or drift away from the company’s direction.

They also explored the RACI model (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed) to understand role clarity and expectations within team structures. Understanding the chain of command helped reinforce respect for leadership roles and empowered participants to communicate more effectively within formal systems.

My Leadership Action Plan

In this final module, participants took everything they had learned and shaped it into a practical, personalized action plan.

Each participant presented their short-term and long-term action plans. They received feedback, gaining both ownership and a clear next step in their leadership journey.

An Interactive, Hands-On Training Experience

 

This was no ordinary classroom session. Instead, the Character Development Workshop was filled with interactive discussions, group games, and leadership simulations.

Participants were actively engaged by asking questions, exchanging opinions, and applying what they learned in real time.

The Jenga time management game was a crowd favorite, combining fun and pressure in a team challenge that revealed leadership under stress.

These real-world leadership simulations made learning stick. Every module connected theory to practice. This helped participants reflect deeply and apply lessons at work with confidence
